Course Overview

Save money on 1-2-1 lessons!

The GRMT Residential Crash Course (ABRSM) is a 5-day/4-night Music Theory Crash Course geared towards those students taking their ABRSM Grades 3, 4 or 5 exams.

We are excited to be returning in 2025, once again in the historic town of Stamford, Lincolnshire.

The course curriculum includes the entire syllabus covered in just 5 days, with plenty of time for students to do past papers and a mock exam.

The course is also an opportunity for students to create new friendships and take part in fun activities, including a trip to the famous Burghley House – England’s oldest Elizabethan estate.

For UK based students, our course can be used towards Duke of Edinburgh Awards (DofE), and also for Arts Awards.

International travellers are given the opportunity to truly experience British culture and history at its finest. The course is also a fantastic opportunity for these students to enhance their resumes, experience boarding school and ‘dorm life’, and strengthen their college/university applications.

Students reside and have meals in Garden House, right in the heart of Stamford! Garden House is a wonderful establishment that has hosted multiple courses like ours. For a further look at accommodation, please be sure to check out their website: https://stamford.holiday/garden-house/

Day 4
8:47pm

Today was the best day of the course so far! When we woke up this morning, we reviewed what we did for homework last night, and then learnt about intervals and chords. We then went to Grimsthorpe Castle! On the way there, we played a music theory vocab game to help us with the Terms and Signs section of the exam. A highlight at the Castle was seeing the artefacts that told us how people worshiped their leaders. My favorite part though was getting to bond with new and old friends from last year’s course! After we finished the guided tour around the castle – we got ice cream! I got the lemonade flavor and it was so good, especially because it was hot today. We had lunch, then went to the park with our books to play and then study. After we had more classes and got more studying done for tomorrow’s mock exam, Vivian and Will announced the annual treasure hunt! We were split into teams to solve theory problems to get the next clue. We were all running around like crazy! We had dinner and got started on homework and past paper questions from the topics of the day. We all came back to our rooms and started getting ready for bed. I hung out with the other girls and chatted for a while. Now, I have showered and will go over my study notes from today until lights out time!

Good night!
