Do students take the exam(s) at the course?
Students do NOT take their ABRSM exams at the course. We prepare students in full so they are ready to take their exam and it is then the students/parent(s)/guardian(s) responsibility to book and schedule the online theory exam. We recommend taking the exam roughly about a week after the course. This gives students time to do a few extra practice past papers post course before taking the exam.
My child can no longer attend the course. Can I get a refund for this course?
When you sign up and make payment for one of our courses, you are confirming your space with us. This means GRMT will have made plans and cater specifically for your child to attend. Therefore, the course fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
My child is primarily a singer and does not read music very well/at all. Can they take the course?
Absolutely! If they come into the course with a positive attitude to learn, then this is no problem.
Where do students reside and eat during the course?
Students work and reside in Garden House, right in the heart of Stamford. Garden House is a wonderful establishment that has hosted multiple courses like ours. For a further look at accommodation, please be sure to check out their website https://stamford.holiday/garden-house/
Can my child bring snacks to the course?
Yes, absolutely. However, it is required for students to keep snacks in their boarding house kitchen and not in their bedrooms.
Can my child keep medications?
Students are allowed prescribed and/or over the counter medication providing a parent/guardian has filled out a medical form and has signed it off. Medications must be in it’s original packaging with dates included on it in order to be accepted by GRMT. Medication must be handed in upon arrival and will be kept with our head of pastoral in a safe place. International travellers must keep in mind that there are certain medication in the UK that need a prescription, which may not need one in your home country.
Will my student need to bring their instrument / Can my student bring their instrument to practice?
Students do not need to bring their instrument(s) to the course. The course is solely dedicated to music theory and the ABRSM exams. We will be teaching them the theory with reference to their instrument(s), but the physical instrument(s) itself is not needed.
If students would like to bring their instrument(s), then they’ll be able to practice during their free time. Please note that the student is fully responsible for the instrument(s). GRMT do not take responsibility for theft, loss or damage.
As an International Traveller, what is the best way for me to get to Stamford from the airport? Are there any other recommendations or things I should know?
Stamford is 2 hours away by car from London Heathrow International Airport. We recommend pre-booked airport transfer, but taxis or Uber/Bolt is also a good choice. Please email [email protected] to request an International Travellers Packet.

Do GRMT provide lunch for my child?
Please note that it is not possible for us to provide lunches for students. Students are to bring a packed lunch on both days, and can store it safely in our fridge if need be. Students must also bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Please note that there is no microwave on site. GRMT provides refreshments at break times to keep students energised and focused.
